Being fashionable

fashion basics

Sometimes when flipping through the pages of the fashion magazine  or checking out designers lookbook, I wonder how many people out there can afford to wear designers products  I mean they are too expensive for an individual say maybe who is  not working but wishing to wear the designers clothes.  However having the ability to shop maybe a dream for many of us and its a solution to many. Fotunately fashion is not about something that you have but it is an attitude you hold and it is all about  creativity and energy to create a look that expressesyour unique beauty.
You don't need to buy designer clothes to be fashionable. You can buy clothes which have a good cut and yet which are inexpensive. No one is going to ask you what the brand is, nor check on the label in your clothes. The safest way to dress fashionably is to be simple in your taste. When buying clothes, just don't pick any color. Stick to colors that will compliment your skin. A nice pair of shoes and bag to match will complete your ensemble. It is worth investing on a good pair of shoes and hand bag, not necessarily exorbitantly priced. Thereafter you can build part of your wardrobe around the shoes and bags you have rather than buy shoes and bags for every dress or suit you have.

fashion disaster

Bonnie McKee at the grammy awards

fashion can be a very sensitive notion and there is always a thin line between looking amazing and simply wearing something that does not work. Some  fashion are disastrous and can be seen from a  mile away while others are a bit more subtle but still clear enough for people to see that something went wrong.

At any big event there are few fashion disasters just waiting to be seen some are subtle while others are aim to shock with different style that usually ends up being a worst dressed up  person of the  night.
Bonnie McKee attended the grammy awards from the moment she walked on the red carpet things looked disastrous and even  got worse when she tried to sell the look and make it seem that she was enjoying her unique style.

I just dont understand why some women are partaking in some bad fashion trends or is it because they dont realise that they should look at their appearence?

FASHION IN MEDIA

Whether through newspapers, magazines or television the media dictates  a sense of what people are suppose to look like because of this influence, the media plays  a strong role in shaping the public's perception but yet

Melanie B's sparkly onesie featured in the spice girls perfomance

It has become something else for instance: A female body shape being exposed, much to the fashion industry's grumbling resentment, culpable as it undoubtely but it will take  the fashion fans to have been focus solely on designers clothes in the fashion section and not distracted by bodies beneath them.

fashion on TV never really works according to S.Carles I will have to agree with her because like the clothes shown aside can not be actually seen  but quite simply fashion is always going to struggle to look anything other than a little incougrous.

my concern is why it has to be always women who are being exopsed and not men?

LONDON OLYMPICS FASHION

Who would have thought so much that  fashion content could come out of the olympics?

atletes in their old peppy and boring costumes

I have to say each country's outfits were all riot all on their own. This year the looks ranged from peppy to pretty, boring to controversial.
Atletes from czech republic

fashion in a way is a race of not epic proportions but yet everyday it vault over some ridiculous obstacle atleast mentally.

rocking them fashion

In 1924 olympic costume was all about just letting everything hand loose it wasn't about being held in and uptight and restrained. It wasn't about lycra or high perfomance technological fabrics that keep both cool and economic. but thanks to this forever changing fashion yet the olympics are able to embrace their fashion whoever came with this idea I salute him/her.

COLOUR BLOCKING TREND

The trend began about a year and it literally means an outfit  made up of  block solid colour. A loud and proud combination make for a dynamic confident look.

The trend of colour blocking is no longer for clothes this year. Today everything you wear right from shoes, jewelery to handbags are being colour blocked and styled to create the best colour contrast possible.

Here some celebrities with colour blocking fashion trend without hassle.

This look is basically about using large blocks of colour a loud combination make for confident look. Using them together is very popular now and adds to an immediate attractiveness and radiance your look.

I believe that working the trend as tastefully as you can is the key to looking good but experts suggest that:
  • It is best not to use more than three colours on your person at any one time.
  • using wrong colours can end up making one look like a giant paintbox.
  • it can wash out the look and make you look totally ridiculous.

What do you think about colour blocking trend?

SA Fashion war over copy cat skirts

fashion shows are often the source of the latest style and trends
in the clothing fashion.

Cat fight in the fashion industry seem to come with the territory and the latest spat between designers Thuli Sindi and Khensani appears to be no exception at the heart  of this tiff: an A line, high waist skirt with frill detail on the waistband.
Sindi alleged this week that Stoned Cherries Nkosi ripped of the design of his skirt that was showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion week on 20 March 2012 Nkosi's similar skirt hit the catwalk at SA Fashion week in Rose bank last weekend.'' I was very suprised to see the skirts which remarkably similar to mine in pattern, detail and proportion walking down the run way said Sindi.

It is sad when designers resort to mudslinging before researching whether their allegations hold water this is plagiarism and plagiarising other people's work is completely wrong

Well my argument is why  they copied someone else's work without acknowledging? this brings us to the point that when ever you decide to host a show there are things that you need to check such as:
  • Conducting a research
  • One needs to ask one self where the design was originated
  • need to make sure that its not plagiarism

Forever changing fashion

Fashion is a form of free speech says Sonia. It is impossible to catch up with fashion because it is forever changing by the time you manage to buy a jumsuit and a leather jacket they have gone out of fashion, smoking is out of fashion because it causes cancer but funny enough most smokers have not quit smoking while they are taught about the dangers of smoking through mass media communication  which means that the teachings are not enough.

Beggy trousers and pull overs are becoming popular once again the same is true about hairstyles.fashion are never standardized new trends are set everyday by films, film star and retailors lose no time to copy film design. Young girls and boys seem to be made after fashion they will never fell satisfied because they are winning after shadows.

I wonder why fashion changes from time to time?

clothing

A baby wearing many items of winter clothing, headband cap
fur lined coat, shawl and sweater.

Clothing is the most common form of  non verbal communication.
well a non verbal message can be defined as a messages that can be communicated through gestures and touch by body language posture facial expression eye contact and also through material  artifacts meaning objects such as clothing hairstyle etc.

A gotholic girl in miniskirt.

I  think the types of clothing that an individual wears convey a non verbal clues about his or her personality, background, financial status and how others will respond to them.
For example Miniskirts can give a woman the appearance that she is not approachable this shows a certain response in this case, a negative and unapproachable response.

muslim men traditionally wears white
and a cap during the prayer

An individual clothing style can show their culture, mood, level of confidence, interest, values and beliefs. some examples of a person's clothing type in which a negative message is beng conveyed could include a person with a sloopy appeareance mesy hair and wrinkled clothethat person sends a message '' I dont care'' Also a woman who wears a tight dress with low cut may convey a message ''Im attractive''

Alim Khan's bemedaled robes sends a message
about his wealth and status.

my question though is why there is a pressure in cities to look good at all times?  And why there are always comments about what you are wearing and what not?

I personally think that as long as you feel comfortable in your clothing then the  is no need to feel the pressure.

Environmental impact on fashion

The environment and fashion

One of the major issues with fashion and environment is in the relation to the raw materials that used to create textiles for example there may be environmental impacts in places from growing cotton, the use of water for example  and the production of chemicals for synthetic fabric such as nylons etc.

fashion environment
According to the Non Profit Earth pledge, today some 8.000 synthetic chemicals are used throughout the world to turn away materials into textiles. domestically the South African department of agriculture reports that one quater of all pesticides used nation wide go toward growing cotton, primarily for clothing industry. there may be animal concerns also such as the treatment for animals for example cows for leather product even sheep for the production of wool can  be a concern to some people and the use of furs foxes seals from animals is another consideration. The SA Environment Protection Agency argued that many domestic textile manufacturing facilities to be harzardous waste generators and lax standard and enforcement in developing countries where the majority of textile are produced means that untold amount of pollution are likely being deposited into local soils and water ways in region that can hardly stand further environmental insullt. yet this sort of so called fast fashion leaves pollution  footprint with each step of clothing life cycle generating potential environmental and occupational harzards

The precautions the environment and fashion industry can use
  •  firstly to promote the use of renwable reusable and non pollution material production methods
  • Secondly encourage the designers to create and show clothing on the run away models
  • have the ethical fashion forum which provides a variety of tools and resources and runs training sessions
  • the industry can improve its footprint from the inside and drive the costs of more eco friendly material and processes down
  • have networking events to help facilitate moving industry towards practices.

How to dress fashionably

http://www.fashionclothing.com/

Ever wonder how certain people always look nice and you dont? its because they are dressing fashionably and know how to look good!

                                                  http://www.fashionclothes.com/

By following these steps you can be on your way to having a fabulous fashionable wardrobe

  • Organise>Get all your clothes and decide which ones you want and don't want
  • Flatter>  Look at yourself in the mirror and as objectively as possible pick things about your physical appearance, your likes and dislikes what do you want to disguise? whats your body type what do you want to emphasize
  • Style> What  do you like? do you want corporate trendy items into your wardrobe or do you prefer a classic look spend time flipping through catalogues
  •
  • context > where you live? where you go and what you do are major factors in dressing fashionably. just think about what kind of clothing is appropriate for the things you are going to be doing.

  • ask someone else to go with you its always good to have an outsiders opinion.
well being funky is about attitude as it is about what you are wearing as a matter of fact, so the less thought you give your clothes the funkier you will be! my advice: follow these instructions and have a fashionable style.

Fashion in the workplace

Each workplace must have a dominant dress code for example a male wall street lawyer is expected to wear a suit and a tie while a gas station attendent might wear a red shirt with the name tag. A sale assocciate at a record store is expected to dress in the funky style of their clients and a Public relations practitioner at SABC is expected to dress formal.
                                                      http://www.googlefashionpictures.com/
Proffessional dress is essential to any career path, a person is expected to dress accordingly to the company guidelines whether it is uniformed attire or not. In nowadays employees dress for occasion outside work and they have become so used to the so called trend of fast fashion that they can nolonger care to make a statement with their clothes. They are dressing unproffessional in such a way that men would see an inappropriate dressed  women and think this frees them of their responsibility to behave appropriately. either way no one is responsible for the way someone else chooses to dress if one has control over one self.

Instruction to tell coworkers they dress unproffessional
  • Be honest and tell the truth.
  • kindly suggest that your coworker have a makeover.
  • politely ask your superior to pass out or email a copy of dress code policy to the department.

Who exactly answers what is Fashion?

Well It is not easy to answer what is fashion, why? because it means different things to different people. fashion is an art, a religion a job and peek into a personality. it is playfulness, an escape or a disguise and a feast for the eyes but ultimately fashion is an individual stamement of expression for each one of us. According to Coco Chanel fashion is almost used to describe clothing especially cothing trends and the popular style at a certain place and time it is something that is fashionable conforms to one or more popular norms.

fashion  can be defined as a general term for a popular style or practise especially in clothing, foot wear or accessories. it is anything that is  current trend prevailing style , in look and dress up of a person. Historically it evolve most rapidly during times of economic change and upheaval conflict. In contemporary times however,Western society and the increasingly global culture has made a habit out of continual evolutions in clothing. This habit has in turn led to the creation of an industry that loos beyond the mere practical need to clothe one self to one base on self expression and identity significant ( http://www.fashionweb.co.za/)

I think fashion is the way you want to dress, your sense of style which vary considerably within a society according to age, social class, generation, occupation and geography as well as overtime for example An older person dresses according to the fashion of young people he/she may look ridiculous in both young and older people.
